Never A Dull Moment!

Don't you love it when your students can make you laugh hysterically? So there is this one guy who is an over the top drama queen. He came to my desk this morning and said, "Out of sheer curiosity, can you please talk to a student about a certain unsettling behavior?" and I'm like, "Ummm...I'll try." He says, "There is a certain student, I won't name any names, but he sits right in front of my, and he keeps 'breaking wind'. And I know he is doing it on purpose to try and asphyxiate me." Trying to keep a straight face, I tell, him that there is nothing I can do about that. And he goes, "Miss! You have no idea! This can be considered ....ASSAULT!!" I could NOT stop laughing!

Guilty Pleasures...

What an amazingly unproductive weekend. I only left my apartment to go to the gym Saturday morning. The rest of my weekend was spent overindulging in my latest guilty pleasures: Tetris, Facebook, chocolate pudding, and the season premire of Desparate Housewives.

And let me tell you a little something about Facebook. First of all, I am addicited. Second of all, I have been on it for like a week, maybe, and already I am connected to 1,043 friends; I feel like the most popular girl in the world. Third of all, it is AMAZING the things you will find out about people you haven't talked to in a year. Congratualtions LJ and Ryan on your new little rebel, Caleb. And another big congratulations goes out to Whitney and Travis!!!!....*sigh* I can remember when you two little love birds first started dating....*tear*

And Tetris--yeah, it's a little old school, but it is still as addiciting as it was back in the day. My eyes are starting to itch, and I see little blocks in my sleep. I got it bad.

Thursday, September 22

So there I was, regulating break, making sure no riots broke out, when a student approaches me and whines, "Miiiiiiiiiiiiiss, can I borrow 50 cents, so I can get something from the snack machine? Pleeeeeeeeeeeease? I'm huuuuuuuuuungry!" and I'm like, "Well I'm hungry too but..." then he cuts me off and says "But, look and me and look at you. Who needs the snack more?"

I wasn't quite sure how to take that.

The end.

In other news: My boyfriend has been exiled from his room by a gigantic Gila Monster. The poor boy might find himself sleeping in his car tonight. Just one more reason I am ready to leave the desert.

take me out to the pasture and shoot me!

What a week it has been! ...and it's only Wednesday. So, yesterday was a little rough. Have you ever seen the movie Dangerous Minds? Well, somedays I feel like that is the story of my life. And, dont get me wrong; I am not the Michelle Phiffer so much as I am the fat middle aged man who recieves an emotional beat-down every day from his students. So, the other day, a bunch of guys had to miss their breaks for being late to school because they were caught smoking at the bus stop (big no-no). Let's just say they were pissed. So, they let into me saying, "Who do you think you are, just making up rules like this to punish us? We were not late to class! You don't know what you are talking about! Why are you the only teacher who gets us in trouble? None of the other teachers care if we are late or if we sleep in class!" (well this is a lie) So, I told him if he had a problem, he could talk to the principle. So he said "I will then! you curly-headed bitch!" Doesn't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?

Today was not much better, what with district testing and the incredible sinus headache that I had ALL DAY LONG. Don't worry, I feel much much better now: Thank God for Excedrine and Krispy Kreme donuts!

And the season premire of LOST is on in about ....half an hour! Yay!

Breakfast of Champions!

Last night, I had a dream that Matt came over to my apartment in the middle of the night and ate the entire family-sized box of Honey Nut Cherrios, then casually went back home. I woke up irate! Then I went to the kitchen and was relieved to see that it was only a dream....Let's just say it was a close call, Matt Williams, a very close call!

Friday, September 16

Another long week over! The superintendent of our school came down for another SEI training session.

And, now, the rest of my weekend will be devoted to the grad school application essay.....and W.O.W. ....*sigh*

Heart Palpitations and Stomach Ulcers...

So, sometimes I wake up in the morning and still find it hard to believe that I have been living in Tucson, AZ for over a year now. Time flies. Amazing. It's already September and I just realized that I need to be applying for graduate schools. So that is what I have been doing all night. Deadlines are fast approaching, and leave it up to my computer to be unable to open ANY file. And I just saw that some of the scholarship applications are due in November, of course, you have to already be accepted to the program to be eligible. So basically i need to have done all of this two months ago--who knew! So all of this on top of the fact that I have been talking to my grad school/med school/law school friends, and just hearing about all the studying and reading and power-point presenting they have to do is begining to stress me out to the point of heart palpitations and stomach ulcers!

In other news, the season premire of LOST airs one week from today; who's excited? I know I am. Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend and his shamelessly downloaded complete first season, I have now caught up on all my episodes. Poor Fiona, all of her episodes are in French. lol! Comment contrôlez vous?

Monday, September 12

So I just checked the DMB website and saw that the pictures are up from the Phoenix show. Now I am craving another concert...The Rolling Stones are going to be here in November, and my fingers will be crossed. I think everyone should make it their goal to see a big-name concert this year--you won't regret it--I promise!

Suprise, Suprise!

Today was a great Monday! So Matt had to come to Tucson to run some errands for work, and he called me up at work and had lunch with me! How sweet! Matthew scored major points; yay, Matthew!

Bear Down Arizona...

University of Arizona: 31; Northern Arizona University: 12

On Saturday, Matt and I went to our first UofA game since moving to Arizona. We had such a great time! It felt good to be back on a college campus for game day. Granted, it was nothing compared to what we would have expected at Ole Miss or State: tailgating was minimal to say the very least, and what tailgaters we did see were packed up long before half-time. At least the weather was great: It was a late game, so the sun was setting by kickoff, and the night was nice and breezy, cool. It was kinda weird, thought, to look out over the stadium, and instead of seeing a grove of oak trees, we had a nice view of the mountains. The game was an absolute slaughter: the UofA was up 24 to 3 by halftime, so we left a little early. I will give props to the Pride of Arizona Band; they preformed an homage to Led Zepplin during halftime, even breaking out into an impressive, 100-yard zoso symbol. All in all, it was a wonderfully, relaxing way to spend a Saturday. Hopefully, we will make it to one more game before we leave here-perhaps homecoming will be a good one.

Wednesday, September 7

So I am in the midst of reading Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. It is good--I still liked the DaVinci Code better--but my only complaint is that it is a little too.....outlandish. I realize it is all fiction, but it's one of those books where the character gets himself into a situation where nothing sort of a miracle will save him, and whaddaya know, here comes that miracle... and this happens over and over again. AND, if you've read the DaVinci Code, this book follows the same kinda of plot line. Someone with a huge secret dies, his beautiful daughter hooks up with the hero of the story, they solve a damn near impossible mystery in 24 hours that people have been trying to crack for 2000 years, everyone lives at the end of the book, despite all odds, and then guy gets girl. I still have about 100 pages left, but I just know that's what's going to happen.

Here is my proposition: as soon as I finish this book, I think I am going to read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bardbury. So if anyone wants to read along with me, we can discuss. Or if you have any other suggestion, I am open to those as well. It will be a book club of sorts. I dont know about you, but I am excited!

So It Was An Early Morning....

True story: so today I was walking around the classroom, and one of the students stops me, and looking very concerned, she says, "Miss, you look awful! Are you gettin sick or something?.....oh wait....I think it is becuase you aren't wearing any make-up."

Geez, Louise! I can't believe I let myself go out in public sometimes!
