Graduation...

Exactly four weeks from today, my brother will be an official high school graduate. YAY, MICHAEL! The last bird is leaving the nest. *Sigh* The parents will be all on their own. But don't worry; that will NOT last long, as I will be moving back into the nest this December. So, enjoy the next 6 months of freedom, Mom and Dad, for it won't last long.

And even more exciting--I will be back in Mississippi for the fun and festivities with Michael's graduation weekend. I can't wait to be back home. Home misses me, and I miss it.

Heaven

This weekend it was just us girls (me and Lucy); Matthew Darling was in the field. So I made chocolate covered strawberries to cheer me up. It was GLORIOUS! I seriously dipped an entire carton of strawberries in dark chocolate and ate them with every meal. And here is the real bonus: strawberries are on sale: A dollar a carton. This only means one thing: I must eat more. It's really the most economical decision.

In other news...

This has been a CRAZY week! All in a matter of three days...

1. A girl went into labor right there at her desk
2. I walk into the teacher's lounge and a student is hiding out in there talking on his cell phone.
3. The convenient store across the street calls to inform us that they are calling the cops if our students go over there anymore. Two kids were arrested.
4. And did I tell you about the time three guys got into an argument and the mom of one of the students bolts out of the car with a TIRE IRON in her hand?

Good times. Good times. Thank goodness there are just 4 more weeks of Juvie....I mean....School left.

I free stuff

It is wonderful to have friends in high places...Or at least places that will get you free stuff. One of my students is the manager of KFC. I went there for dinner the other night, and when he saw me, he gave me a 3-piece chicken strip meal with mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, an extra biscuit, and a drink for the price of $o.oo. It was exciting and delicious all at the same time. And the thing is, this student is not in my session or any of my classes; he just knows who I am. What a great guy! I wish I had him for a class so I could give him all A's.

Weekend Update: Tuesday Edition

I don't know what the weather is like in your neck of the woods, but out here, it is defiantly summer. Saturday night, Matt and I made it official with a few cold beers and steaks on the grill. It was SO much fun. We grilled juicy steaks and summer veggies. Yum! I don't know what was more romantic: cooking together, or watching him clean my kitchen afterwards. It's a toss up.

But another sad realization: There is no Dale's steak marinade out here. No crawfish, no Zataran's seafood boil, no sweet tea, and no Dale's. I am sad for these people.

Happy Easter! I hope the Easter Bunny was good to y'all. I got an early package in the mail; needless to say, the wealth of chocolate was depleted hours ago. BUT then I noticed that young Matthew left his chocolate bunny on my kitchen counter this morning. How convenient! Fannie May's dark chocolate.....Yummy!

Big mistake, Matthew, big mistake....HUGE! You will never see that rabbit again, my dear.

P.S.- Did you know that dark chocolate, in particular, is good for you? It actually helps the blood pump through the heart and releases endorphines in your brain to make you happy. Yep! Totally a true story; I saw it on Fox News.

Joy to the World!

GREAT NEWS! The Easter Bunny sent me an early package, and just guess what was inside: A delicious assortment of chocolate and other candies PLUS a new tube of my long-lost chocolate lip gloss! I feel like a whole new woman!

Quote of the Day

I think the Quote Of The Night award goes to Bernard from LOST. He was brave enough to turn to Mr. Eko and say, "I think I liked you better when you just hit people with your stick!" Oh, Bernard! I'm surprised you lived to see a new day after that one! LOL!

Tomorrow is Friday!

When we were younger, Dad would drive us to school, and on Thursday mornings he would voice-over Paul Harvey and say, "Good morning, Americans; it's Friday." (He only works Monday through Thursday, you see. So technically his weekend begins on Thursday.) And as a teenager who still had two grueling days of middle school in their work week, this line only made me want to roll my eyes at him. However, now I have joined the ranks of the teaching world, and Spring Break/Easter Break begins tomorrow. And now, it feels good to wake up on a Wednesday morning and say, "yawn....stretch.......it's Friday."

P.S.- an update in the World of Warcraft: My server is down indefinitely. Grrrrr.

Weekend Update

What a ridiculously lazy weekend! Matt came over on Saturday and helped me enhance my W.o.W playing capabilities with new add-ons. They work wonders. Now I can slay murlocks with a swift click of my mouse without my gigantic purple minion taking up the whole screen. Tonight: I get a new pet, a new robe, and level 21.

The rest of the weekend was spent in front of the TV for an epic long 9-hour marathon of Survivor: Pearl Islands. What drama! I don't want to spoil anything if you haven't already seen it, so I will just leave it at that.

Poor Lucy

Poor Lucy. Ever since I started playing W.o.W, I have been neglecting things like the dishes, my blog, sleep, and Lucy. While I am on the computer, she resorts to desparate attempts to get my attention, such as sitting her fuzzy butt on my clean laundry. She also jumps on the desk, walks in front of the monitor, presses the keys of the keyboard with her paws, lays in the printer tray. Poor Lucy is feeling neglected and jealous. I am a horrible mother...
