Let's just say, after yesterday, I feel like a brand new woman. Food poisoning, as it turns out, is not fun. Especially when you are too weak and dehydrated to drag yourself to the Kangaroo down the street and get some Gatorade. (Thanks Brittany!)
Today, I took it easy and actually started working on my lesson plans for next year. And I started with my 9th grade class, which I am VERY excited to be teaching. So I reread Of Mice and Men, and found myself CRYING like a baby at the end. I remember when I first read it in high school, I thought it was so boring, and I thought the ending was stupid, for lack of a better word. But this time around, I cried for Lennie. Who knew. Tomorrow: Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe.

Hmmmm, what about Tuesday? I have to be careful about eating today b/c I am running 15 miles this evening with a couple of people and tomorrow we are having a couple and their 2 kids come over for a cookout.....but, Tuesday would be good--and I really want sushi!

Sorry about your food poisoning. That is awful!

You didn't cry the first time you read the book? Gah, Marie, have you no soul? Boring! Are you kidding me. That book was hilarious. "I kilt it, George. I kilt it." That line's a classic. I remember I read the entire book in one sitting on a trip to florida and you told me I was a nerd for reading too fast.

saddest line in the whole book: " If George don't want me, I can go right off there and find a cave...-an' never have no ketchup...."
